Wednesday night, I was handed 5 Eagles Hockey tickets from a vendor of Sunstate. This got me all excited but somewhat worried too! How would it go with two little ones, working late, and a last minute aerial training class I had to do at the church, and still get there by 7:00? Well, somehow we arrived and found our seats with everybody hungry due to lack of time to eat 15 minutes before 7!!! So far so good:) Then I attempted to be Super Dad and go get some food with Zachary and Thomas (somehow Jeni and I agreed that Nathan was her responsibility and Zachary was mine but I got the last laugh later). Nachos, 2 kids meals, popcorn, and one pop too many, and Zachary in my arms, we headed back to our seats. Jeni then asked me why I didn't make 2 trips ( her and her wittiness!!!) Anyway, Super Dad (Super Dad will be in place of Jon to protect his identity) set the pop down on the floor right behind his feet and handed Jeni the nachos while she was trying to hold a now squirmy Nathan. All was ok until Super Dad kicks over (this sounds better in third person:)) the pop right in front of where Zachary will spend the next 2 hours. What could be wrong with that, a sticky floor in front of an active 23 month old? It wasn't too bad except they gave us all flags at the front gate of the arena! Zachary proceeded to dip the flag in the spilled pop and wave it in his mom's face. Nathan got a couple of wet swats to but he is used to the attention!!!!
Things calmed down then, and the kids were great after that. Zachary ate most of the popcorn and then dipped some in the pop on the floor (yeah gross!! we know) He also got to know the people in front of us while he leaned over the bars. Zach also bonked his new friends on the head with the flag. Eventually Super Dad took a back seat to Super Mom and got to hold Nathan. He then fell asleep!!! The game was very loud and Nathan didn't even
move for about 45 minutes. This was very enjoyable as I was exempt from cheering, singing and other hockey necessities, and nobody wondered why I didn't jump up every 2 minutes. Super mom had to go take a restless Zachary for a walk around the arena (evened us up!!!)
We wrapped up the evening with the famous "chuck a puck" (you get to throw a foam puck out on the ice to try to land it in a bucket for prizes) and headed home at 9 only to get a night tour of Vestas Blades to pick up the Sunstate service truck but that is a whole
different story!!!!
