First Family of 6 Hockey Game

Wednesday night, I was handed 5 Eagles Hockey tickets from a vendor of Sunstate. This got me all excited but somewhat worried too! How would it go with two little ones, working late, and a last minute aerial training class I had to do at the church, and still get there by 7:00? Well, somehow we arrived and found our seats with everybody hungry due to lack of time to eat 15 minutes before 7!!! So far so good:) Then I attempted to be Super Dad and go get some food with Zachary and Thomas (somehow Jeni and I agreed that Nathan was her responsibility and Zachary was mine but I got the last laugh later). Nachos, 2 kids meals, popcorn, and one pop too many, and Zachary in my arms, we headed back to our seats. Jeni then asked me why I didn't make 2 trips ( her and her wittiness!!!) Anyway, Super Dad (Super Dad will be in place of Jon to protect his identity) set the pop down on the floor right behind his feet and handed Jeni the nachos while she was trying to hold a now squirmy Nathan. All was ok until Super Dad kicks over (this sounds better in third person:)) the pop right in front of where Zachary will spend the next 2 hours. What could be wrong with that, a sticky floor in front of an active 23 month old? It wasn't too bad except they gave us all flags at the front gate of the arena! Zachary proceeded to dip the flag in the spilled pop and wave it in his mom's face. Nathan got a couple of wet swats to but he is used to the attention!!!!
Things calmed down then, and the kids were great after that. Zachary ate most of the popcorn and then dipped some in the pop on the floor (yeah gross!! we know) He also got to know the people in front of us while he leaned over the bars. Zach also bonked his new friends on the head with the flag. Eventually Super Dad took a back seat to Super Mom and got to hold Nathan. He then fell asleep!!! The game was very loud and Nathan didn't even move for about 45 minutes. This was very enjoyable as I was exempt from cheering, singing and other hockey necessities, and nobody wondered why I didn't jump up every 2 minutes. Super mom had to go take a restless Zachary for a walk around the arena (evened us up!!!)
We wrapped up the evening with the famous "chuck a puck" (you get to throw a foam puck out on the ice to try to land it in a bucket for prizes) and headed home at 9 only to get a night tour of Vestas Blades to pick up the Sunstate service truck but that is a whole different story!!!!

A week in review

It was a week we will not soon forget. It started with the refrigerator giving out (cleaning it had everything to do with it). So back to Sears we go again...in less than 2 weeks...to buy a new refrigerator. We only need a new stove (hopefully not for a really long time) and we will have all brand new appliances in our kitchen. Next, we found our shower leaking into the basement. Hopefully, the shower is an easy fix with caulk but we will see. When it rains sometimes it really pours.
The week was good also when we got to hold a new baby again!! Our dear friends had their second baby on Tuesday afternoon. This also allowed us to have our first sleep over. Their daughter (2 years old) came over at 2:30am on Monday night courtesy of Jeni driving to Loveland to get her. Rebekah was so excited to have a little girl in the house!!! Holding this little one, made us realize how big Nathan is getting!!!

Taking four kiddos out to dinner

Jeni and I have always had a goal to have our kids be on their best behavior in public! Its a way to check our progress as parents we think. This in mind, we like opportunities to see how they act. We were blessed by Gr. and Gr. Z. with a nice dinner out to Sonny's Steakhouse for New Years Eve. A New Years Eve dinner out has been a tradition for Jeni and I since the beginning, but last year, we left the kids with gr. and gr. (This was due to Zachary, our wild card). We have a really good feel on how Thomas and Rebekah will act as they are now older, and Nathan is our easiest baby, but Zachary is a different story!! A week before this evening was scheduled, we had our worst outing ever at a dinner. Zachary was upset and wouldn't calm down. Thomas and Rebekah started acting somewhat wild (Christmas Eve and you know the deal), and even Nathan got in on the action, wanting fed!!! This had us worried about New Years Eve:(
We were wrong!! They were perfect!! Not one problem and Zachary sat in a high chair for 2 hours:) This is a Blehm family record with our moodiest baby!! We once againg praise the Lord for these 4 blessings as they surprise us every day!!!
